Central News Agency, Washington, DC, on the 12th, the foreign media reported that the US House of Representatives passed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act at noon on the 12th of the US East. The bill pointed out that the US Defense Secretary should evaluate Taiwan’s military power in consultation with the corresponding Taiwan authorities, and the bill supports arms sales to Taiwan.
The House of Representatives agreed with 220 votes and 197 votes against the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). According to Article 1243 of the draft announced by the Military Commission earlier, the US Secretary of Defense should conduct a comprehensive assessment of Taiwan’s military strength, especially the reserve military strength, in consultation with the corresponding Taiwan authorities to improve Taiwan’s self-defense capabilities.
The US Senate passed the Senate version of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act on June 27. The bill also supports arms sales to Taiwan. US warships should also continue to pass the Taiwan Strait regularly.
The two houses will be negotiated in the near future, and will be signed by the President after they have agreed to the agreed version.
