Three Nalchik road patrol crew attackers eliminated, 1 injured – Russian Investigative Committee (Part 2)

The Russian Investigative Committee’s investigative directorate for Kabardino-Balkaria Republic has launched a criminal inquiry into attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer, the agency said on Thursday.

According to the inquiry, at around 6 p.m., when on-duty road patrol inspectors stopped a vehicle on the crossing of Idarov and Suvorov streets in Nalchik, they were approached by four men walking down the sidewalk.

“Taking advantage of the fact that the inspectors concentrated on checking the vehicle, they assaulted them, using knives as weapon. The police officers opened fire at the assailants, eliminating three of them and injuring the fourth,” the statement said.

One police officer sustained stab wounds, it said.

A team of investigators is working at the scene to establish the assailants’ identities and all circumstances surrounding the incident.

The criminal inquiry continues.
